Dear NIGP Utah Chapter Members,

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits as we step into the vibrant month of October. It is my pleasure to connect with you through our newsletter and share some exciting updates and upcoming events within our NIGP Utah Chapter.

Our next chapter meeting will be held on October 17, 2023, in person at the State Office Building in Taylorsville and at a watch parties.  

Chapter Highlights:

1. Membership Growth:

I am delighted to share that our chapter continues to grow, welcoming passionate procurement professionals from various sectors. Your commitment to excellence and dedication to public procurement strengthen our community, and I encourage you to extend a warm welcome to our new members.

2. Educational Opportunities:

We are actively working on organizing insightful training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge in public procurement. Stay tuned for announcements about the upcoming chapter meeting in November. 

3. Chapter Leadership Opportunities:

Our local NIGP chapter continues to thrive, thanks to the dedication and support of our members. To continue our growth and success, we are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about public procurement and eager to make a difference in our community. If you are interested, please submit your name to me by the end of the day Sunday, October 15, 2023.

We have various opportunities for leadership roles on the board.

  1. Vice President (3 year commitment)
  2. Director (3 year commitment)
  3. Communication Chair (minimum 1 year commitment)
  4. Secretary (1 year commitment)

Closing Thoughts:

I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and dedication to our chapter. Together, we make a difference in the field of public procurement, and your involvement is invaluable. If you have any suggestions, ideas, or concerns, please feel free to reach out. Let's continue to collaborate, learn from one another, and elevate the standards of public procurement in our state.  I would also like to thank all the members that helped contribute to our Chapter winning the Operations Award at NIGP Forum this year.

1. Vice President: The Vice President shall oversee the development of selection criteria, nomination and selection pertaining to annual awards and scholarships, ensure that audit of financial records is performed, and perform other duties as assigned by the President. The Vice President is authorized to sign or counter-sign Chapter checks in the temporary absence of the President or Treasurer. The Vice President shall direct the Honors and Awards Committee. The Vice President’s term of office shall be for a one-year period. At the end of the Vice President’s term he/she will then move into the position of President of the Chapter. 

2. Secretary: The Secretary shall maintain a written record of the proceedings of all meetings of the Executive Board and of the Chapter, mail and/or email all notices of meetings and affairs of the Chapter to the members of the Chapter and to NIGP, and perform other duties as assigned by the President or Executive Board. The Secretary’s term of office shall be for a one-year term.

3. Directors:  Directors are elected for a three-year term on a rotating basis such that one director is elected each year.  They have over-watch responsibility for the physical properties of the chapter and for the continuity of chapter operations.  They shall perform duties as assigned by the Chapter President and assist with planning and preparation for special events.
