Subject: Utah Chapter of NIGP March Newsletter
From: Utah Chapter of NIGP

Happy Procurement month NIGP chapter members!  Governor Cox has declared March as Utah Purchasing Month.  I hope you have an opportunity to find a way to celebrate your procurement achievements and share your successes.  Our March chapter meeting was a success this past Thursday, March 2, with approximately 50 people attending in person and another 41 attending virtually.  During the meeting the Buyer and Manager of the year were awarded.  Please join me in congratulating
- Gayle Christensen – Senior Buyer with the Canyon School District was awarded Buyer of the Year.
- Terri O’Toole – Director of Procurement and Supply Chain with the University of Utah was awarded the Manager of the year.

NIGP has announced a FREE NIGP-CPP Online Assessment Tool Modul a ($49 value).  The tool can help provide feed back and resources to help learners gain the knowledge and competence needed before taking the actual test.  Please see the NIGP.org website for details.  The NIGP Procurement Month theme is “Procure On” and to remember the important work we all do within this vital profession and celebrate that work.

Coming up this month the State will be hosting a Sustainable Purchasing Summit. The Utah Sustainable Purchasing Summit will be the Spring PEP Procurement Training hosted by the Utah Division of Purchasing. The Summit will focus on local best practices for implementing sustainable purchasing practices. Speakers will be from Utah higher education institutions, the Utah Cryptocurrency Task Force, and even the Utah Department of Environmental Quality. The goal is to provide the tools and confidence to begin implementing sustainability in your everyday procurement practices. More information is included in the upcoming events section of the newsletter.

If you did not receive the registration announcement, reach out to teutsler@utah.gov to be added to the Procurement Education Partnership mailing list for notification of future procurement training opportunities.

I hope you all are having a wonderful year so far.

Sincerely,

Hamer Reiser
