Brooke Smith
Hello, friends!
A few BIG things are happening in May for the Utah Chapter of NIGP and I want to make sure you are aware!
FIRST: We are finally a few weeks away from The REVERSE TRADE SHOW on Thursday, May 19. This is our largest fundraiser event of the year. Thank you to all those who registered to attend and to those who have volunteered on the planning committee to make this event happen. We couldn’t do it without you!
The RTS is going to be a great event and we can’t wait to see you there.  As a reminder, the event will start at 9 am but check-in and table set up will begin at 8 am at the Mountain America Expo in Sandy, Utah.  A lite breakfast and hot lunch will be provided so bring your appetite.

To give you an idea of things to bring with you, I plan on bringing some swag with our city logo on it to hand out, a bowl of candy, and my business cards.  If you want, you could even do an “Enter to Win” drawing that would help you collect business cards from vendors.  As a reminder, there will also be a Silent Auction so please have a VENMO account available to bid.  We are also asking members to bring something with them to add to our list of donated items.  This will help us create additional revenue to give back to our members moving forward.

SECOND: Several of our key Utah Chapter of NIGP volunteers have taken new job positions and have had to resign their positions with the Chapter. We are so sad to see them leave but are excited for them as they advance their careers. With that, we have a few openings.

  • VICE PRESIDENT: The Vice President shall oversee the development of selection criteria, nomination, and selection pertaining to annual awards and scholarships, ensure that audit of financial records is performed, and perform other duties as assigned by the President. The Vice President is authorized to sign or counter-sign Chapter checks in the temporary absence of the President or Treasurer. The Vice President shall direct the Honors and Awards Committee. The Vice President’s term of office shall be for a one-year period. At the end of the Vice President’s term, he/she will then move into the position of President of the Chapter.
  • SUU ADJUNCT PROFESSOR: An adjunct professor, is a professor who teaches on a limited-term contract, often for one semester at a time, and who is ineligible for tenure. The topic will be similar to an in-depth look into Public Procurement as a Profession and is scheduled for 8 weeks.
More information is provided below but please let me know if you are interested in running for the Vice President position and/or interested in becoming an SUU Adjunct Professor. We would love to have you join our team!
With that, I want to say, how thankful I am for all the members who have helped our chapter grow over the last several years and for all the volunteers who help us throughout these major events.  Our chapter would not be as successful as it is without your continued support! Thank you and I look forward to seeing you on May 19.
