President

Brooke Smith

Happy Procurement Month to the Utah Chapter of NIGP members.  I am happy to announce that Governor Cox has supported procurement professionals by declaring the entire month of March as Utah Purchasing Month.  With a purchasing power of over a billion dollars in goods and services annually, this is great recognition for everyone in procurement.

NIGP has declared the theme for Procurement Month as “You Time” and is releasing a weekly campaign sharing special accomplishments and moments in our profession. I would love to gather testimonials from our own Utah Chapter members as well.  If interested, please send me a hi-resolution headshot and testimonial (2 sentences) with your special accomplishments, special moments, biggest buys, why you love the profession, or advice to members.

NIGP announced a FREE NIGP-CPP Online Assessment Tool.  Now through March 31, members can gain FREE Access to the Module A and B online prep assessment tools (a 98 dollar value).  The assessment tool provides personalized feedback on your strengths and weaknesses before you test with two interactive study tools.  I will also be setting up a study group for our Utah members. If interested in joining please email me at president@nigputah.org.

This month we have some very exciting things planned.  I hope to see you in-person (or virtually) this Thursday, March 10 at our NIGP meeting from 9 am to 11:35 am.  The Buyer and Manager of the Year Annual Award will be announced during our meeting.  I want to thank the individuals who took the time to nominate someone and the incredible people who were considered for nomination. This month we will be meeting at the Taylorsville State Office Building (TSOB) at 4315 S 2700 W, Taylorsville, UT. Snacks and cake to celebrate National Procurement Month will be available for those who attend in-person.

The Division of Purchasing is also preparing their Spring 2022 PEP Seminar “Sustainable Purchasing Summit” on March 22, 2022, from 8 am to 4 pm and TSOB.

I am so proud of this profession and proud of you. Keep doing great things!

Sincerely,

Brooke Smith

Reverse Trade Show
Save the Date: May 19, 2022

This year in lieu of registration fees for our REVERSE TRADE SHOW we are asking each agency/individual who attends to provide a minimum $25 gift item to use in the auction and encourage those agencies with several attendees to provide something with a higher value.  We hope each agency will help provide item(s) to donate but encourage attendees to chip in as well. We plan on having over 500 people attend so multiple silent auction items and values are needed to be successful.
Money raised through the auction will go directly back to Utah Chapter members to increase learning opportunities, create more scholarships, and provide better content moving forward.

We would like to give a HUGE shout out to companies who have already donated items for our silent auction:
  • doTERRA - a $250 box of supplies (will be split into 2 or 3 gift baskets)
  • Southern Utah University - 3 hammocks
  • Splash Summit (Utah Based waterpark) - 8 individual entry tickets
  • NIGP - Gift Certificate for the Virtual Forum Registration
  • Kindig-it Design - Men's Classic Logo T-shirt, Size M, with autograph from Dave and Kevdogg
Additional donations will be announced soon. We hope you attend to bid on some of these amazing silent auction items that are coming in.

You must be present to bid and win so please sign up to attend in person and host a booth for our Reverse Trade Show.
